This tutorial shows one method that could be used to create a bent pipe object using the Path Sweep tool in the Vertex Modeller. The Spline modeller can also accomplish this task but I decided to use this method to illustrate how smoothing can be applied to square object to create a cylinder.

Using the replicator you can create scenes where objects cover the whole area of the visible terrain map. Using shaders you can control where you want these objects to appear. What this video illustrates is how to place objects/trees only at certain heights either from a certain level upwards or from a certain level downwards. You can also adjust this level later on by tweaking one or two parameters.

How to apply multiple Spin Modifiers to an Object

Carrara 6 does not allow you to apply more than one working Spin Modifier. You can add multiple Spin Modifiers but only the top one would work. This tutorial is a workaround showing you how you could create objects spinning around a center hot point and around it's own X-,Y- and Z-Axis. The end result is an orbiting spinning cube that will run as a seamless animation if you decide to render it and use as a continuously looping graphic for a website for example.
