I know, it's been a long while since I've done anything here. I'm hoping to change that over the next while.

Upon looking for decent bows for Poser, I really didn't find anything I liked. So, I figured, having recently taken up archery, I'd do a bow pack. This is the first.

This is based on a Hunnic horse bow. Textures still need some work, and the limbs might need smoothing a bit, but overall I like how it came out. The back of the bow is wood, the belly is horn, with horn inlays in the sayas. It has silk wrapped on the limbs as well, where the sayas connect, and leading out from the grip for stability. You will find this technique very traditional and is even used on White Wolf's modern high performance bows as well.

I plan on doing a number of varying Asiatic bows, stick bows, and long bows. But we shall see. Time doesn't afford me as much opportunity as it did in the past.

It's rendered here in old Vue 6--I know, I need something better--and once I get it working in Poser, or Daz|s or both, I'll upload some more images.

Cheers and thanks for looking,
Darrin Smith

Well done. Doing your own work is certainly satisfying.

Beautifully crafted. Do you have any examples of the bows drawn? Would love to incorporate this bow in drawn pose into an image.

I don't have it drawn yet, but it's coming. Will be for poser when it's done.

first off:
welcome back, you've been missed.

the bow looks promising but being tall i have always prefered the longbow
hopefully you will include a quiver with an arrow bundle with the finished product.
will wait to see the final product.
