Spectacular image! That's not just a dead log, it's a micro universe. I bet there are bugs and moss and probably some fungi on that "dead" log, and it's right there at his fingertips.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. I'm a fan of things like dead logs, and old tree stumps, and exposed tree roots.
On the other hand, the skies in Zam's time must've been awesome. Light pollution spoils the views of the night skies in the city. You have to go out in the country to appreciate night.
Zam appreciates dead logs, and things right under his feet. But I have to say, the skies above Zam are mind bogglingly beautiful.
