Our lawn gives up its secrets at close range. We don't put anything on it to encourage grass and defeat everything else, so it's full of moss and mushrooms and a few dead leaves.

A couple weeks ago we had frost ... :)

I like an ecologically-sound lawn. I mean, what's the purpose of exhausting the soil and brewing what the Great Dust Bowl proved gets brewed when you start doing "grass only" lawns, or at least single growth ecologies? I wholly applaud mixed-growth ecologies...woodlice like 'em too, and so if they're good enough for woodlice, they're good enough for me. That's my take on it. I love the little shroom here, the frost on the blades of grass, the dead leaf. It all works together so perfectly. I like this a lot!

What an utterly charming image. At first I thought "a little pink flower" but on closer inspection I saw it for what it was. A wonderful discovery made more so because you probably had to get very close to the frozen earth to get it.

It's really cool when you can capture something so simple and show it's beauty. Very cool photo.

Such a cutie! It has the appeal that all baby creatures have, even though it is a fungus: weird!

Very nice closeup. I wish I knew how to tell the "good" mushrooms from the "bad" ones. We get a number of mushrooms in our yard too. Most are near wher there had been dead wood in the past.

Ooh, with ice crystals too! Did you get down low on your knees to get this? That's braver than me, if I got down there I'd never get up again. What a wonderful little world you've captured here!

We needed to supply it with a little infrared heater and a pair of mittens:)
Neat shot...whatever your new camera will be, a variable-angle LCD screen is a must for you.
