| "So, shall we dance, my friend?" Aran is a native of the Vartanian Empire's southern province of Laurencia, a land famous for its wine and the fencing skills of its warriors. Schooled by the finest sword masters from an early age, Aran showed an immediate natural talent and, as he grew, gained a formidable reputation. After many dozens of duels against those that sought to be the one that had beaten the great Aran Montoya, the unbeaten swordsman came to the attention of a wealthy wine merchant. The merchant took Aran into his employ to protect his beautiful daughter, Sancha, whom the merchant feared was at risk of kidnapping in order to extort a large ransom from him. Unfortunately, Aran fell in love with Sancha and was discovered in her bedchamber by the merchant's guards. Despite his protests, Sancha insited that Aran flee Laurencia as she could not bear the thought of him being killed. And so Aran fled. All the way to the Vartanian Capital of Neroon where he found easy work as a sword for hire. Aran is the self-proclaimed "greatest swordsman in all of Laurencia", a statement that actually turns out to be true. His reputation has already spread through the Imperial Capital and, after many more duels, he is beginning to think that he may be the greatest swordsman in all of Vartania as well! His easy-going charm, exotic looks and dashing charisma have enamoured him with the Vartanian ladies, but he is forever beyond their reach as he would never betray the love he still holds in his heart for Sancha. ***** Just a quick bio and background of the next character to be introduced to the story. When he "speaks" in my head I hear Antonio Banderas. I wonder if you will too. He is something to an homage to the character Inigo Montoya from the film "The Princess Bride".
