(ZOOM OR YOU'LL MISS DETAILS!) Hie to lands afar... Away, oh ships - Across tireless tide - O'er limpid brine glide - Ancient sea-rules abide To kiss - The watery lips - The watery lips Adjust loud straining spar... Dire freight inside - Misery abounding - Agony compounding - Fate confounding To conspire - E'er to hide - E'er to hide For riches hard a-port... Here, there, set chains - To strong man tall - To rare child small - To fair woman befall Tears gone - Nothing remains - Nothing remains Dolphins race for sport... Trackless seas uncertain - Under flags unflown - To lands unknown - Shiv'ring cargos groan Bring down - The stormy curtain - The stormy curtain Fetid nighttime fears... Sailor, stow guilty pain - Memory do thwart - Gossamer morals distort - Burden cargo to port Sad refrain - None to blame - None to blame All on the sea's deaf ears... TO BE CONTINUED! No she is not drowning but has resigned herself to her fate, a fate in somebody else's hands. The only thing she can hang onto is that she is alive. This chapter/image is best understood in the context of what has already happened in the story - the clues are all there. The act of trying to make some sense of it will help you put the coming events into focus... I promise.
What Savage_dragon said....so emotional, magnificent writing and a stunning, dramatic scene! Bravo!
I zoomed in... didn't see any detail that I didn't see at the regular size.

Wonderful words and image as usual my friend, and very original, but I have to confess to being slightly confused as to how this fits with your story. I think you are being too subtle for us!
