You know Deek I agree. Difficult to know what is real anymore.
Civilizations die from suicide, not by murder.
Toynbee was a well known English historian during the first half of the 20th century. He believed that, in a civilization's journey from birth to growth and finally death, the life span of a republican form of government was approximately 200 years. This was usually followed by dictatorship and oligarchy. We are overdue but the signs are clear that we are headed for a new Feudal system where we are the serfs and the 1% rule and own everything. Commercials, twitter, eBay, and other trivialities are all part of the "bread and circuses" to keep us pacified.
This might all be true, but I don't tweet, text or watch television, so I can't comment on the veracity of what you say. My grip on reality isn't being threatened so far as I can tell, but I suppose I would be the last to know, wouldn't I? Your writing is superb and to the point as always. It's a pleasure to read your work!
Great thought provoking poem. Thank you.
