"The First Amendment (Amendment I) to the United States Constitution is part of the Bill of Rights. The amendment prohibits the making of any law respecting an establishment of religion, impeding the free exercise of religion, abridging the freedom of speech, infringing on the freedom of the press, interfering with the right to peaceably assemble or prohibiting the petitioning for a governmental redress of grievances."

The Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR) is a declaration adopted by the United Nations General Assembly (10 December 1948 at Palais de Chaillot, Paris). The Declaration arose directly from the experience of the Second World War and represents the first global expression of rights to which all human beings are inherently entitled. It consists of 30 articles which have been elaborated in subsequent international treaties, regional human rights instruments, national constitutions and laws. The International Bill of Human Rights consists of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, the International Covenant on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights, and the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights and its two Optional Protocols. In 1966 the General Assembly adopted the two detailed Covenants, which complete the International Bill of Human Rights; and in 1976, after the Covenants had been ratified by a sufficient number of individual nations, the Bill took on the force of international law.[1]

Freedom of speech is the freedom to speak freely without censorship. The term freedom of expression is sometimes used synonymously, but includes any act of seeking, receiving and imparting information or ideas, regardless of the medium used.

The right to freedom of expression is recognized as a human right under Article 19 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and recognized in international human rights law in the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights (ICCPR). Article 19 of the ICCPR states that "[e]veryone shall have the right to hold opinions without interference" and "everyone shall have the right to freedom of expression; this right shall include freedom to seek, receive and impart information and ideas of all kinds, regardless of frontiers, either orally, in writing or in print, in the form of art, or through any other media of his choice".

I have a set of codes that I live by. A set of morals and values if you will, that I personally set for myself. I don't PRESUME to force them upon anyone else. To me, that goes against what I believe in.
I don't steal, I don't rob, I don't lie. I treat everyone initially with the same respect that I myself wish to be treated with. If that respect changes, there is usually a reason.
I don't tell anyone what they can and can't do. For instance, I think that if you're against gay marriage, GREAT!! Don't enter into one. If you don't believe in abortion, by all means then don't have one. If you have some political point of view, AWESOME! Just don't force it on anyone else.
Do NOT tell me what I can say, think, post, render or believe. Trying to force me to live up to your beliefs, ideals or moral codes is not only arrogant and won't happen, it's narcissistic (and patently insane) to believe that your way is the only way to act or believe.
I think we must stay ever vigilant against people that would PRESUME to censor others according to their own set of standards, no matter how "patriotic" or "religious" they may claim to be.

The next time someone crawls into my email to tell me to take something down because they find it offensive and goes against what they believe in? Well...I'll just make like a dandelion and they can blow me.

Stunning image.
Well said. Your position is your own not anybody else's. I don't and never will push my own belief on anyone. We may not agree on something but that's how it goes. It's a right that everyone should cherish, not push it on to someone one.

I like this one, very cool!

BTW - I also happen to try and live by that very same code you just described. I feel others could benefit in trying to do the same.

Yeah, and a clue for people who don't like the images they are looking at on the Internet..there's a little x box at the top right corner of the screen, and that makes it go away.

Go Sariah!

Write on and I mean that word literally - to be able to write and think as we feel is right for us. You go girl, and LW you hit it right on the button too, use the little x box and keep your closed minds to yourselves.

Why so reserved?

Tell us how you really feel. ;)

I generally come here to get away from that kind of attitude. (the e-mailer not your statement above) If something offends me I find that little X in the upper right hand corner of the screen and click it. (Beleive me there is plenty of stuff here I don't care for.)

But sometimes you have to open things that are not to your liking to find those gems that are. And that's the beauty of this place, everyone can find those images that inspire, relax, or offend - and they aren't the same images for everyone.

Keep on keeping on Laura.

Freedom .... reminds me of the Original Star Trek episode where Cloud Williams (yeah, I'm a Trekie) says to Capt. Kirk: "Freedom? .... It is a Kong word, you will not speak of it".... Just saw that episode last week. Star Trek is on standard TV, in Denver, on channel 28.3 at 8pm monday through friday - I missed it tonight - I was sleeping - lol I like your picture, just the right light for a dark image. I'm going to drag my dandylion out of here before it gets a blow job - lol

Stunning image, I love the lighting on her face. As for the rest, it's a shame not more people think the same way.

Ooh... me thinks someone tweaked your nose a bit. Have at 'em Gypsy. There was a aimilar debate going on at work and a bit of history occurred to me. Laws that provide freedoms to people tend to always win in the end and stay. Laws that take freedoms away almost always die.

On that note... everyone should spend a little time listening to one of Stephen Pinkerton's presentations on the History of Violence. Things aren't perfect yet, but there's reason to be hopeful. Peace to you.

Laura I am so sorry that a person on here is giving you trouble, you truly are an amazing artist and a great person as well that has been kind to me in a community that can be quite touchy. So sad this matter has developed into a head, but hopefully it will work itself out! Don't forget me and do keep me updated on your life and any new things you might produce on here!

Great render, as always.
And your comment - it could as well be mine - I agree with you completely.
