I can’t see your face

I can feel your heart beat
We are so much alike
We have seen the rains
But we were not drowned by them
We made it out to the other side
And even though it is behind us
Sometimes we have to look back
The waves were so rough
Try as we may
We can never put them
Completely behind us

This reminds me of my best friend in university and all the trials we went through doing field work together. Falling through frozen lakes, nearly freezing to death in the low arctic, smashing up skidoos in the backwoods and having to hike out for miles. And while I thought our friendship would never end ... it did.
