Macclesfield Bridge, Regent's Park This interesting structure, designed by James Morgan Engineer to the Regent's Canal Company, was built between 1815 and 1816, and carries over Avenue Road over the Regents Canal where we went for a long walk on Friday.

There are three brick arches carried on cast-iron fluted Doric columns, with square capitals.Circular features in the Spandrels above the Springings add to the distinctive character of the bridge.

The ironwork was supplied by the Coalbrookdale Company, and the edge of the capitals are marked "Coalbrookdaale Company". This company and the home in Shropshire formed the engineering power to begin the start of the industrial revolution.

If I recall correctly there are still scars visible from the gunpowder explosion on a barge being towed under it.
I love the history there!

Lol yeah Clive it is also known as Blowup bridge.. What I also liked you can spot in full size are the rope grooves in the side of the cast Iron pillars the one on the right.. Years of rasping along the pillars by the ropes..
