In spanish this fruit is called "higo chumbo". The plant "chumbera". I would like to know its name in other idioms. Thanks in advance!

Here, they are one of the many types of Prickly Pear cactus. I have two growing in my front yard and this year is the first they produced fruit. Not many but I still hope to pick them soon and make sweet jelly from them. In fact, I was just looking up recipes on-line this morning. :-) The "leaves" can be fixed as well and I hear they taste something like green beans when cooked but finding a recipe for that is not as easy because I don't know how best to cook them for the best flavor. This is a fabulous shot with superior lighting and detail. What color are the blossoms on this one? I hear the white blossom is the favored for fruit and leaves flavor.
