".... another figure appeared, a girl .... with long, rather wild black hair. She was gauche in movement and in a sense, ugly of face, but with how small a twist might she not suddenly have become beautiful. Her sullen mouth was full and rich; her eyes smouldered." The Lady Fuchsia Groan from Mervyn Peake's Gormenghast series; loved by Dr. Prunesquallor, but fated to love only Steerpike. A little older here, and wiser, and sadder, than the description above.
Syyd's Horizon character, with dial twisting by me. First image upload of my official retired life; nothing but Saturdays from now on!

Brilliant Paul.Funny thing is,about six months ago,I started a portrait of Lady Groan - it was going to be a multi render, comped piece but to be honest with you I got fed up with adding all those cats and so it's rotting on my hard drive half completed.Maybe I should dig her out again. One of my all time favourite novels - the BBC did a terrible adaptation a few years ago.Truly dreadful. My dream is that HBO will give it a whirl.Did you know that Sting bought the rights with a view to playing Steerpike years ago? Now that was a close shave!
