Gunny, the new police dog for the Merrimack, NH Police Department. The K-9 officer, Greg Walters, was in the Marine Corps as a gunnery sergeant and the nickname for this position is gunny...hence the name of his police dog.
Because of budget constraints, this is the first police dog our department has had since the late 80's...but the people of our town came through and between private and corporate donations, we now have a wonderful police dog.
I wasn't sure which catagory to put this under, as it was a choice between people or animals...but since I was focusing on Gunny, I put it under animals, LOL.
Sorry this is not as good of a shot as I had hoped, but it was the department's photo day and I didn't want to get into the professional photographer's way!

Unless you have had the opportunity to work with a well trained police canine you can not really appreciate what a difference having one at your service can make. Its great that your Police force has Gunny! I am sure he will be a great addition to the team of fine men and women already serving.

That is one gorgeous dog. What kind is he? Tracking, patrol, drug, etc. Your dept. is lucky to have a dog program, especially since it wasn't in the general budget. Great shot of a fine looking team. Tell the Officer the cop from Houston says "stay safe brother".
