It was not so easy to build a model that looks like that. Ther is no graphic composition, its only one model, one camera, and that rendering waht you can see. An optical illusion based on the Penrose stairs!

Really good job. This is one of those projects I would like to attempt some day. Kudo's to you for doing a great job with it. Personal opinion, the arch work over the pillars destroy the illusion. Maybe tweak the height of the pillars to the arc look like the land roughly in the same spot.

Escher used this in 'Klimmen und Dallern' (sp?)...and I took a shot at that, and I agree, never mastered it...kudos to ya.

This is a good one. There are in these pages sevral good interpretations of the illusions, which Escher masterd so perfectly. Escher used paper an pencil, which still is the easiest way to make graphical illusions. (The title of Escher's version should be "Klimmen en dalen" (Ascending and descending).
