The idea is to illustrate something about experiments with animals.

I used Maya for modeling, Mudbox for detailing the mesh and for refining the textures.
Shave and a Haircut for fur and Photoshop for the textures and the final compositing.
No postwork on the final rendering, just a few colors and contrasts adjustments. The background was made in Photoshop.
There are three 4k textures and the shaders are SSS.
The rendering time is about 1 hour and 30 minutes for the highres image 2657x3636, I think it's pretty good considering the fur.

I hope you like it!:)

Wow, that's a really good looking image! They better have that cage locked, because he really looks mad! Great fur and skin texture. Excellent work!

EXCELLENT!!!!! You have done superb work on this image showing the plight of these poor creatures. I signed 3 petitions today about the exact same thing. I wanted to do something on these lines but your picture is exceptional and is far better than anything I could have made:-)

This is great. A subject that truly bothers me. I wish people wouldn't do this to animals that don't even understand what is going on and can't defend themselves. Excellent art and really moving!

Very powerful, a visceral image that presents the plight of these animals quite clearly. Most of all, the fact that you have created a very emotive expression in 3D and with such amazing detail, fur, lighting and all the elements that make this look so real... jeez I am just in awe of your gallery. Being on here for a little over 9 years, I can honestly say that you impress the hell out of me more than any artist I have ever seen on this site. Just don't let the idiot copy/paste commenters get to ya, they are more than abundant unfortunately, but your work is so friggin' impressive I am just in awe.
