This is the frog that yesterday's posting (Vine Snake) was after to have for dinner. Luckily for the frog the snake missed its mark - at least that night :^)
A truly remarkable creature, the Gaudy Tree Frog better known as the Red Eye Tree Frog only comes out at night. This one was photographed after a short break of heavy rain in Tirimbina Reserve in Sarapiqui, Costa Rica. I used a Nikon SB-800 flash pointing up with the diffuser and reflector. This helped avoid heavy shadows from the frog and still light the background.
Hope you like the photo as much as I do and again thanks for all the great comments on previous images.

Very fortunate encounter for you and very fortunate frog to avoid being eaten. I would think that with these colors, this fellow might be toxic enough to dissuade predators from even trying to eat them.
What amazing colors on such a little critter. I cannot wrap my mind around how creatures can evolve such amazing colors and patterns but I definitely can stand in awe at the process, lol. Very nice image with great detail and crisp clarity.
Thanks for sharing.
