At the bottom of this dead-end is located one of the oldest huge stores in Paris : "La Samaritaine" ! Unfortunately, because the roof was in a sorry plight, this store is closed now and the whole employees were burned out ! This shot, taken this week end shows to you that this wonderfull place is still in the same condition since several years and nothing happens regarding any restoration. . . Until when ? Sad report! Triste constat! And thank you very much for your comments on my previous upload: "Within thoughts" |

I love the lines in this, and your signature strong colors and light/dark contrasts are well at work!
Love the POV, colors, lighting, and commentary. I like the wall with the black and white texture. The clouds in the sky hovering over the building are just right to set the tone of this excellent photo.
marvelous image! | |

by OnceUponAtime on Jul 16, 2008 9:07:55 am [homepage] In the past we used to say " On trouve tout à la Samaritaine", now we just can say we can find wonderfull photographic expression of the noble old Parisian store. I'm afraid it will be a business building in the future ;-( ...
Superb shot and poswork :)
Beautiful and interesting picture!
The apparent balconeys are quite a draw. Too bad it is not being restored but then, with world economy as it is and businesses battling over who gets the most profit, I doubt many businesses will decide to sink big money into non-functioning structures... Love shot of the alley street leading up to it.
MERCI JAnis !!! Which waste… Thank you Sirs large fortunes, thank you it Mesdames banks which made all and n' import what, with the detriment of hundreds d' employees… and who inspire such an amount of respect to our policies… of the financial empires which will be degraded like this splendid masonry! THANK YOU JAnis!!!
Great perspective and composition here. Too bad about the old store. I hope someone takes an interest and does the needed restoration.
