BEHIND THE TREMBLING HANDS
THE GRAY HAIR
AND DIM EYES
LIES THE HEART OF A WARRIOR
A MAN WHO STOOD IN THE FREEZING COLD
HOLDING A RIFFLE
FIGHTING SOMEONE HE DIDNíT KNOW
TO PROTECT SOMEONE HE DIDNíT KNOW
FOR ALL THE RIGHT REASONS
A MAN WHO CAME HOME
WITH NOTHING TO SAY
HE JUST DID HIS DUTY
MARRIED A LOVELY LADY
RAISED FOUR KIDS
NEVER MISSED CHURCH
EXCEPT FOR A OCCASIONAL FISHING TRIP
WORKED AT THE MILL
FOR FORTY-TWO YEARS
A GOOD NEIGHBOR
AND FRIEND
QUICK TO LEND A HELPING HAND
NOW HE PLAYS CHECKERS
AT A NURSING HOME
KIDS ARE ALL SCATTERED
HIS LOVELY WIFE HAS PASSED ON
NO ONE STOPS BY
TO SAY HI
NO ONE KNOWS
NO ONE CARES
BEHIND THE TREMBLING HANDS
LIES THE HEART OF A WARRIOR

Nurses like me care...take them under our wings...become their family...and LOVE the stories they tell, the history they teach, if you but listen...so rewarding for the soul...both ways....Gin.

and yes, I work in a nursing home.

I agree with FallenAngelLPN, they have so much to teach.

Touches the heart and soul, both of the woman and the soldier in me. Thanks from both of us BJ
