An image I've had rolling around in my head for many years. I finally decided that I needed to build it.

I thought I could find a simple bi-plane on the Carrara content CD but alas, I had to scratch one together out of my imagination.

The dirigible is also more or less conjured out of my imagination and doesn't lend itself technically to any specific actual dirigible. I looked up a few references to get the general shape and some texturing ideas. The Graf Zeppelin is a cool dirigible (not to be confused with a blimp)

Bottom line, it's just art.

The whole image took me about four hours to generate completely from scratch (model work, texturing etc.).

This machine is one of those things that I wish I could have actually seen for real in my lifetime. Unfortunately, I'm sure nothing like this will be in the sky again before I'm dead.

Hope you like it.

You certianly have feel for the whole concept of rigid airships. I too would like to see these giants again, but alas it probably will not be so. Thanks, these are very nice renders.

Excellent! The Graf had a sterling safety record and the only dirigible of the period that did not crash. It was deflated and scrapped to supply aluminium for the Nazi war machine.

Great color on the ocean and the skinning of the air ship has that visual effect of different sections on the rib cage.

Very Nice! I like the prop motion and shadow of the aircraft on its sides.

A little Sperry piloted by a man named Stoner was the first to dock with a dirigible at altitude. I like how it shines. There is something so horribly flawed about the design it is hard to explain it to the makers. The "Mile High Club", the error in the gyro design, no real way to get through.

It looks great! You can still find some of the dirigible hangars out there in California. I hear these are making a high tech comeback.
