This image is for Schonee. Why? Because I worked on it for days and finally wound up blowing away what I thought I wanted it to be and went with what it was telling me it wanted to be. I let go of where I thought I wanted to go and let lifes forces move me. In this regard it is truely Gothic. It is about letting go of our attachments. I think Schonee will understand.

Thanks also to Terry (Tea_Rex) for his thoughtful essay on the essence of Gothic art. See his comments in his work "Gothic Memories"

I know that the the painting has an underlying meaning and that everything is heavy with symbolism but I don't care. I just enjoy the colors and the beauty of it and wonder over how some simple post work by a skilled artist can do such marvels to a Poser figure.

Beautiful render. Yes sometimes these images just take on a life of their own. They want to be what they want to be, not what we want them to be. Beautiful rich colors and nice dedi to our dear friend Schonee!

It is surely a sweet well you have been drinking from lately, Rox'; sweet and brimming with vibrant inspiration.

The first impression which delighted my eyes upon viewing was the luxuriant warmth of the scene.  Dark and exuberant rose.

There is much to enjoy here; a work which merits in-depth observation and return visits.

There are indications enough for us to recognize her as the High Priestess: the cresent crowned sceptre and her throne upon which the lunar motif appears twice more.  There is a great deal more which it seems the work wanted to say/tell.

Sometimes, like Campbell wrote, it is best to get out of our own way and let our intended work and life come through.

I smiled brightly at the light-hearted cat and mouse motif.  Very often the process of manifesting our inspirations is just such a play.

I also smiled to find the note about this work just minutes after posting an ellaboration of sorts to the Gothic Memories portrait.  Another work inspired by the fate of all things dear to the human heart.

A beautiful and strong craft work, Roxy.

With dear warmth,

Terry
