There are some great aviation artists out there that I watch and it has been awhile since I was motivated to do a large canvas myself... so I am working on a earlier Carrier..based on ref images I have for the USS Yorktown.

While I am not attempting to do a museum quality model in true details, this will provide me and other like minded 3D artists with a large detailed model at a price point not normally available for something this complex.

I have an entire side still to do as well as the upper control tower... but this should give you an idea of the detail that will be modeled overall.

My own desire is to have enough detail for compositions of aircraft taking off, landing, and enemy dive bombing close in.

There are a couple of you that I can't wait to see you apply your creative skills into this.

Hopefully, another two weeks... but certainly before Christmas, and I will have it posted to C3D. At this time, I am planning on this being a Vue 9 and above model. If people contact me and desire a model for Vue 6 and above still ...let me know before I start importing this over.. say before the next 10 days.

I always thought it's a nice touch to be surprised, find something special, so for those interested in military history, but stopped by the prices for such at TS... here's your chance for that big model for 24.95

Don, you're right about the price of any 3d models available on the web.
Impressive work!

Cool. I am just building a carrier of the Yorktown class. I wanted to make the deck and upper structure only for carrier situations on deck. Now I am curious to see your finished work and stop my attempt to build it. :-)

I have always wanted to complete my Enterprise and Yorktown and Hornet, but never get around to it. I am looking forward to the completion and release of this fine work.

My eyes are glazed over and I caught myself drooling at this, and it's just the WIP! This will be a terrific offering, and certainly release the floodgate of backlogged ideas for carrier renders on my part! This will be like waiting for Christmas morning and the opening of presents when I was a kid.
