Subject: what are the right settings for a thick glass Help!

Im trying to to get the thick glass effect (sothing like the old style thick Geek eye glasses).How can  successfuly accomplish this ? check the attached images of my model. thank you!!

Perhaps I'm wrong, but I think a refraction setting of 1.65 is correct for thick glass.
