Jun 30, 2015 at 12:00 am by Store Staff

Hope Kumor is a talented, energetic woman who has taken over the role of Community Manager at Renderosity. She moved to Murfreesboro, Tennessee, from Pennsylvania with her partner, Brett. Hope graduated from Temple University in May of 2013 with a BA in English. She also attended Bucks County Community College and earned her AD in Journalism in 2010. She’s had internships with Family Circle and Good Housekeeping magazine in New York City as well as 1490 WBCB and Bucks County Courier Times. She has a background in social media, writing, newspapers, and PR.

Ricky Grove: You moved from Pennsylvania to Murfreesboro with your boyfriend,Brett, who already had a job here. How did you land the Renderosity job as community manager?

Hope Kumor: A few months back, I met with this guy Travis, who was part of the Murfreesboro Post, about contributing to the publication. After that, he contacted Tim Choate, who contacted me about the Community Manager position at Rendo. So, I met with Tommy and Tim at a local coffee shop. Then, they invited me for a second interview. From there, Tommy offered me the job.

RG: How has it been getting adjusted to a new city and a new job?

HK: I’m still getting used to my new life here in Tennessee. I moved 800 + miles away from family and friends with my boyfriend. It was very scary in the beginning since I didn’t know a soul, but little by little, I’m getting used to living on my own. And, a few months ago, my boyfriend and I even adopted a puppy named Ollie! He may look cute and innocent, but he’s a monster when it comes to chewing! All in all, I would say it was the best decision I’ve ever made because I really love working at Renderosity thus far! I have a lot to learn, but ready or not, here I come!

RG:Tell us a little about your background and interest in community development

HK: Well, ever since I was a little girl, I’ve always wanted to become a writer.  I wrote in my diary my most private thoughts and knew I wanted to be an author when I grew up. In college, I majored in Journalism, earned my AD and then went off to a university and received my BA in English.  Being a journalism major taught me how to talk to strangers. I often had to interview them for an article I was working on. Therefore, I know how to talk to people and understand their issues and problems. I’m interested in teamwork and creating an atmosphere for the Renderosity members and coordinators and moderators to work together.

RG: What do you think of the Renderosity art community? Do you have any favorite sections/galleries?

HK:Prior to this job, I’ve only seen the Renderosity magazine in Barnes & Noble, but never heard of the website. I think it’s an excellent place for those who love 3D art to come and share their photos and engage in conversations with others. I’m very much into photography, so I’d definitely say that’s my favorite section/gallery!

RG: Are you an artist yourself? If so, what kinds of work do you do?

HK: I’m a different type of artist. My type of “art” is writing. It’s the same sort of principle. You envision how your article will turn out and spend countless hours perfecting it the way you want it to be. To me, writing is art as well. As of right now,  I’m freelancing for sites such as HuffPost, Thought Catalog and Your Tango.

RG: What are some of your goals working at Renderosity?

HK: Some of my goals being Community Manager at Renderosity are to establish relationships with each coordinator, moderator and admin, bring back the fun to Renderosity, praise my team for the good job they do, be available when needed, allow my team to feel a sense of satisfaction and  most of all, learn everything I can about 3D art and the community!.

RG: Do you have any hobbies?

HK: In terms of hobbies, I enjoy working out, reading and writing. My boyfriend, Brett, and I go to the gym at least 3-4 times per week.

RG: Is there anything you'd like people to know about you that we haven't covered here?

HK: I want people to know I’m a very hard-working young lady who loves to smile, laugh and enjoy herself. I tend to shy away from negativity, so please come to me with an open mind.
