March 2008 Vendor of the Month - Aery_Soul

Mar 03, 2008 at 12:00 am by Store Staff

I'd like to start with a dedication: to my aunt, you'll always be in our hearts.

Where are you from, and what originally brought you to Renderosity?
It was the late summer of 2001 when we discovered Renderosity by chance, we were looking for clothes and items for our Poser characters to wear and Renderosity already had a large section of free downloads.
Our first character Aery-posette was based on Eve for posette which we got through Renderosity. Then it came Victoria 1 and Aery for Victoria 1, Victoria 2 and a new version of Aery and again for Victoria 3. Renderosity quickly become our reference site to look for Poser stuff and we started to share our very own freebies to its free-stuff section too, just a few weeks later.

Do you remember the first thing that you designed on a computer, and if so, what was it?
If we only take Poser into consideration after a lot of trial and error the very first thing we thought that deserved to be shared through the freestuff section was a simple loin modeled in 3D Studio Max (with a very old version of the tool, I don't even remember which was), a lot of people downloaded it and we felt really proud and glad.
While if we don't talk about Poser then I was a game designer and mainly worked on Amiga.

Through your success at Renderosity, what has been your favorite piece of work so far?
I know it sounds mainstream but it's usually the latest one until it gets released; at that point, it's the next one! Every product had its own story but there's something that they all share: we really feel satisfied when we have the whole package ready and can finally play with it ourselves (which is when it's time to make the promo stuff). If we happen to not be completely satisfied we just re-work the pieces we don't like until it's ready to have the Aery Soul stamp on it.

Let's see what's “under the hood”.  What are the hardware specs for the computer you use to create your masterpieces?
We try to keep our computers up to date, however we also use them for games and such therefore we don't have anything specifically designed for 3D graphic. We do not like to have computers that are built to carry on specific tasks (such as rendering or just for playing) and we usually have the top that can be found on the market, we build them on our own so we usually upgrade them bit by bit rather completely changing machines every few months. It may sound stupid but one of our achievements about computers is to have them totally noiseless. We've always been trying to optimize our PCs to be silent and the current ones are incredibly quiet (without a water-based system). This achievement allows us to have less distractions and keep the concentration longer in front of the computers (it also allows us to leave them on during the night for rendering purposes).

What software do you use and why?
Mostly Maya and Photoshop because they are very powerful and have lots of options, one can do the most simple and also the most complex things with them. Versatility is a key word here. Another great tool we'd like to use even more is ZBrush, the best for character sculpting.
Poser obviously, version number 7 which is the most advanced although a lot can still be improved especially as far as the rendering engine is concerned (very old and slow) while we really like the material room, powerful and versatile
There are also various other tools that we couldn't do without for content development: UvMapper Pro, Ultra Edit and a few other little utilities that can really come in handy for everyday tasks or product packaging.

What are you up to when you're not hard at work on the computer?
We'll answer so that we won't be taken seriously: we try to live.
Each and everyone of us has their own way to confront with life and what we try do to is to really live a life and a time that, fortunately, do not stop... they keep going on and all that is passed is gone and can't be lived again.

Do you have any final words?
Of course, final words should never be wasted.

Me and Siliphiel are not famous or important persons... we cannot change the world and we live our little "notoriety" in a little world made of people that share a passion.
We *always* try to be helpful about anything, we always try to keep in mind there is a *real* person in front of the monitor on the other side, someone that lives their life, their passions and their grieves. During these years we have "met" a lot of people and we have learned a lot from many of them.
We always think that every little minute people spend for us is precious and that we don't want to waste it. We'd like to meet everyone, one by one, shake hands and look them into their eyes to let them understand how much satisfaction we have for the time they dedicate to us.
We often receive thank-you and congratulation messages and it is hard to say with words how much satisfaction this gives us, and encouragement to go on.

All the people that are close to us with 1000 messages or just one are very important for us. therefore, this time, our final words go to all those that support us in their own way, we appreciate each and every one and we try hard to give everyone one more chance.

In particular we'd like to thank our admins: Georges Koncz and JonnyRay and all our closer collaborators (including you Ray!) and all those that care about us and those that don't like us very much because we aren't selling Alice anymore.

And these are our final thanks, the same of the last interview (!):
to our parents for the patience and endless support.

To Amiga for allowing me to create and become aware of its programmers, graphic artists, musicians. You were great and some of you still are.

To videogames creators for both inspiration and fun. We deeply respect you because we know every one of you works hard to Create and we really admire what you do.

To movie writers and directors. Another wonderful form of art; we would always like to see movies that let our mind and imagination run wild and boundless for a couple of hours.

To the artists that draw wonderful things and full of feeli ngs and emotions. Do not ever think you're wasting your time in anything you do because at least ONE person in the world will understand and appreciate what you do.

To musicians. Many of you create things that are so incredibly beautiful that often we would like to be there and listen at all the trials you perform before the final, registered version. You art is perhaps the most direct and moving. You can do a lot and I hope one day everyone will realize that more recognition should be give to those that create Music, not those that produce music for the mass.

To the brilliant minds that with their inventions and discoveries, since the most ancient times, allowed our civilizations to progress and dream.

To books and comics, an immense source of enjoyment and thought. We would like to support all the writers and comic writers that create wonderful things and earn almost nothing. Go on, time will reward you.

A thank-you also to all kind of sports and physical activity that teach and remind us that "Mens Sana In Corpore Sano (healthy mind in healthy body).

Another thanks goes to all those people that silently work and sacrifice themselves for us.

I also want to thank my elementary school teacher, my primary school math teacher and my secondary school Italian teacher.

Finally we thank our friends, those that aren't anymore and live as shadows in my dreams.
A thanks to the sky, the sea, the wind and the fire ...
A thanks to the comets, asteroids, satellites, planets, galaxy, universe and everything in it ...
A thanks to the eyes, the smiles, the words, the gestures and the colours ...
A thanks to the binary numbers, the videogames, RpG, Internet, cybernetic and science, Dna and everything is alien.
A thanks to the fluffy and furry things, our baby plushes, martial arts, the Destiny and the Future.
A thanks to the beauty of the naked female/male body.
A thanks to all Soul, Mind, Body.

A thank-you to all those that support us and dedicate to us their precious time.

Thanks for the attention and PLEASE, please ... believe in your dreams, because they happen.
