file_469655.jpgCongratulations to StudioArtVartanian for being Renderosity's Vendor of the Month for June!

Who is 'StudioArtVartanian' and how did you get this username?

My name is Joanna. I live in Athens, Greece. I studied fashion design and worked for a short time in fashion. But, my love for painting and illustration led me to the doorstep of Athens University of fine Arts, where I studied painting.

Finishing my studies, I dealt professionally with traditional painting and book illustrations. Wanting to evolve my illustrating work, I took some lessons in Photoshop and Illustrator. Eventually, I taught myself 3D techniques, thanks to the kind people who share their knowledge with tutorials. I am still learning and developing new skills, techniques and knowledge every day.

My vendor name is a mixture of my beloved grandfather's name, who was a paint artist, and StudioArt, which stands for the space I'm working. I know my vendor name is too big and hard to remember, but it's too late to change it :)

How did you originally find Renderosity?

Some years ago, someone told me to Google for an easy, new 3D program, with 3D people, which I could use as posing references for my book illustrations. So, I Googled and that led me to Poser and eventually to Renderosity's magical place.

What made you decide to become a vendor?

I used to create Poser characters and 3D models for my book illustrations. Then, the financial crisis hit my country and I lost my job, and it became very difficult for artists to find work. I was unemployed back then and I needed to find a new job, and I was always fascinated by the 3D art world. So, with that in mind and the encouragement of my friends, I created my first complete 3D product (hair, outfit and character) and I uploaded it to the Renderosity store.

The acceptance in the Renderosity store really changed my life and helped me to find a new Job as a vendor. I am so grateful for this opportunity that was given to me, especially now that the financial situation in my country has become worse and it's almost impossible for an artist to find work.

What are you currently working on?

I've been working on 2 hair sets for some time and I just started my next male character.

Through the creation process, from inception to finalization of the product, what is your favorite part and why?

My favorite part is when the model or the character starts taking its final form and comes really to 'life'...just as I planned it.

How much time goes into creating one of your products?

I can't define exactly the time I need to create one of my products, because I work mostly on more than 2 projects at the same time. It's never less than a month for sure. But, it also depends on the inspiration I have, what I want to achieve and how the project develops. I keep changing the product, until the final moment that I'm doing the promos. I always believe that it needs something more. Often, someone has to stop me :)

Sometimes, however, after a month of work, I might throw away the model because I am not satisfied with the result, and then I start all over.

Where do you find inspiration for your products, and do you have any particular favorite among the products you've created?

I get my inspiration from everything: movies, books, paintings, mythology, something I saw on TV, a photo, a promo or gallery image, a song...

My favorite product I created is Volg, as he is my first and my lucky one. I will love him forever :)

Have you created any product as a result of customer feedback?

I am taking the feedback I get from customers very serious, as they are helping me to create even better products each time. Many community members and friends site-mail me their ideas and suggestions. I am mixing all that with my ideas, and in this way I create my next product.

Who is your favorite artist - digital or otherwise?

I have many favorite artists, classic and digital. But, the most inspiring for me are: Michelangelo, El Greco, Caravaggio, Rembrandt, and Ivan Kramskoy from the classics; Panselinos and The Cretan School of Artists from the Greek traditional Icon art; Boris Vallejo, Luis Royo, and Chris Achilleos from the fantasy art; and film directors Sergei Eisenstein, Francis Ford Coppola, and Tim Burton, as I found their work ''living paintings."

What else do you enjoy doing when you're not hard at work creating great content?

I don't have much time for other things. Actually, I spend most of my time in front of my computer, creating or trying to learn something new to evolve my work. When I take some time from that, I'm painting airbrush portraits. I have 'discovered' this technique recently, and I'm having a great time trying to make a portrait as realistic as possible :)

Do you have any advice for aspiring Digital Content Developers?

I am not in a position to give much advice. I am still learning every day myself. But, this I can say: just work with your heart and respect your (potential) customers and their intelligence.

Do you have any final words (any info you want to share with the community)?

I want to express a big, huge thanks to the Renderosity community! To the members, who trust me, supporting me, buying and using my products, and making all these wonderful renders in the gallery!

To Renderosity and the Renderosity staff, they gave me the opportunity to try myself as a vendor, and they are so fair, kind, helpful, and supportive. My fellow vendors from Renderosity and other sites, they accept me with love, they are so supportive and great friends, just as they are great artists!

And, finally, a big, huge thanks to Jennifer Blake, she is a Diamond!

Thank you all very much!
