The Renderosity Standard License has been updated. The new EULA
basically has the same restrictions and allowances; however, the
update should be more clear and easy to understand, with wording to
clarify the buyer’s copyrights of newly created work and game
usage. Commercial use of products is allowed, just not
re-distribution, and our license wording has been updated to help
people understand the differences. There is more specific
terminology to help ensure that all vendors’ copyrights are
properly protected.
This license more clearly states that changing the files to another
file type (like Second Life or other virtual worlds) and then
selling them or giving them away is not allowed. Please note that
buyers can use the files for their “personal†use on virtual
worlds where the files are not shared, but Renderosity products may
NOT be used on Second Life due to their license that gives them
full rights on any items uploaded there.
The updated Standard License is now for ALL products, regardless of
when they were purchased. Any works made before 04/24/2014 with the
previous license are grandfathered in. We ask that all buyers
please thoroughly read the updated Standard End User License
Agreement (EULA) by
clicking here.
Our Standard License no longer allows Renderosity Marketplace
models to be used in real-time 3D gaming engines and virtual
worlds, because the models are able to be extracted. Buyers
interested in such uses will need to inquire about an Extended
License on the specific product(s) they would like to use. The
updated Standard License (like the original) still allows for use
in games when the files are not being re-distributed in any
way.
A new Extended License has been created for the specific products
where the vendors have authorized it to be sold with an Extended
License. You can read the Extended License
here. Please keep in mind that not all products will have an
option for an Extended License. This is the vendors' choice. To
inquire about or obtain an Extended License, please email
license@renderosity.com.
Please note that vendors selling “Merchant Resources†are
required to state any of the additional allowances (or
restrictions) within their individual read-me files, but only for
topics that are different than or not specifically covered in our
license for resources. Buyers please remember to read the readme
that is available online before purchasing products and resources
cannot be made from other resources.
