file_478451.jpgEach month the Renderosity community votes on the Renderosity Artist Of The Month [AOM] ... February's AOM is dengo!

We congratulate dengo for an outstanding collection of works in the 3ds Max Gallery!

Who is 'dengo' and how did you come by this username?

First of all, "ALSALAM ALIKOM WA RAHMAT ALLAH WA BARAKATO" (which is our local greeting). Dengo is Islam Aly Abd Elsamad, 29 years old, Egyptian born and lives in Alexandria, married and has a baby, loves Art & design. God granted me with the talent of drawing & design. Concerning my profession, I am A 3ds Max instructor in several learning centers and working as a freelancer in interior exterior visualization. In addition, I am currently a student at the Faculty of Fine Arts (The Open learning unit) decor department. Regarding my nick name, DENGO, it really came by coincidence more than twelve years ago when some of my close friends used to call me that. I liked the name and when I started my artwork I decided to sign with it, it sounds simple :)

How long have you been working in digital art?

Since 2005, the story started, when I was surfing the internet and found Google SketchUp software. I started downloading the software and learned how to use it through self learning and really was inspired by the results. By 2006, I decided to go in depth in learning 3ds Max by taking professional courses to put myself on the right track.

What are you currently working on?

In fact, working on several things. First, I am trying as much as I can to be familier & up-to-date with any new technique in Art & design, especially in 3ds Max modeling, in order to consider learning what is most beneficial and what will lead me to develop and gain knowledge to reach career advancement in design. Also, as being an instructor, I am trying to be skilled with the most simplest & easiest way in explanation and communication. As the famous quote said, "If you can't explain it simply, you don't understand it well enough." That is beside college projects and work, believing that continuing university studies will enhance and enrich me with important elements to achieve the highest level of professionalism. During my spare time, I love to make pastel drawings beside new pieces of artwork.

What all is in your digital toolset and why?

Mainly 3ds Max. It`s amazing when you can imagine anything and start to build it step-by-step till the end, passing through the interesting process of modeling & lighting. Really, it`s magnificent. And, for sure I use Photoshop for 2d working and post production after 3ds Max. Also, currently learning Mudbox, as I think it`s very simple to sculpture some models.

What do you think your best piece of work is and why?

I think "Garage" is my best piece until now. If you follow my gallery, you will notice the difference in any new project as I try to make each newer piece better than the one before it, especially this piece. It's my design, lived in it by imagination, exerted much effort, built each part by concentrating on each single detail, trying to reach outstanding results, believing that Allah does not waste the reward for those who work diligently. And being the artist of this month is my reward :)

Who, or what, inspires you?

Inspired by many artists. Was first inspired by Dr.Samer Elsayary, inspired by his work and his way in making advancements in digital art. He is the one who guided me to Renderosity, by the way. Mohamed abou Yehia, who really has an oustanding gallery. Also, Mohamed keshla, who has fantastic Architectural works. Both make me feel honoured to be Egyptian. Worldwide, many others, especially Marek denko, Juan Siquier, and others.

What do you enjoy most about 3ds Max?

As I mentioned before, it's amazing when you try to imagine anything, design & visualize it. I really enjoy the whole process, especially when I see the results of which I aim.

Do you have any tips you would be willing to share on the software?

Currently, I am working on my new projects, still in progress, and I am sure I will be glad to share them as soon as I finish. Beside that, I am willing to share any important topic which I find of benefit in our field.

How has this online community (Renderosity) enhanced your work, relationships, and learning?

In fact, it helped me alot. Sharing my gallery with others gives me the chance to compare my work, find my weakness points, and try to improve them, exert more effort. Also, to know my strengths and make more advancements in the art & design field. Also, it helps me build relationships with other artists, enabling effective sharing of experiences, which enhances me alot in my work and learning process.

Do you have any parting comments, or advice for other artists?

Always practice and practice. Concentrate, exert effort to collect as much data as you can when starting a new project. Don't stop searching for the new, as every day something arises.

We invite you to have a further look at dengo's Renderosity Gallery!

Artist of the Month is highlighting a talented Renderosity artist that has been nominated by mods and admins, and voted by the community. Recognition is given to this member for their collection of works for that year.

Since we only select one AOM per month, it is not about their works for that particular month. Instead, it is about highlighting a talented artist's works for that year, and they are recognized during that month.
