All-star line up of judges set to select the top 30 submissions to be displayed at Macworld

FRAMINGHAM, MA, October 1, 2008—Macworld Conference & Expo today announced a call for entries for the new Digital Art Gallery attraction to be featured at this year’s event. Digital artists of all backgrounds are invited to submit original works of art that have been created or enhanced using Mac hardware or software tools. Submitted works will be considered for the opportunity to be selected as one of 30 final images that will be displayed to thousands of Macworld attendees. Selected images will also be presented in the Digital Art Gallery section of the Macworld Conference & Expo website. Macworld Conference & Expo is scheduled to take place January 5-9, 2009, at San Francisco’s Moscone Center.

All Digital Art Gallery submissions will be reviewed by a distinguished panel of industry luminaries including: Rudolf Frieling, Media Arts Curator at the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art; Steve Wozniak, Apple co-founder; Pop artist icon Peter Max; and Nathan Moroney, Principal Scientist, HP Labs. This group will determine the top 30 works of art to be showcased during the event. As the official sponsor of the Digital Art Gallery, HP will serve as the exclusive printer for all images displayed on-site.

“Macworld is known around the world as the pre-eminent event for discovering inspired uses of amazing technology. Our new Digital Art Gallery offers a venue for the most imaginative digital artists in the world to share their genius,” said Paul Kent, general manager, Macworld Conference & Expo. “Bringing this attraction to Macworld furthers our mission of inspiring our attendees to put the amazing creative tools available for the Mac OS to work.”

Artists submitting work must be 18 years of age or older, and must reside in the United States. The cost to enter is $20.00, with a 3-image submission limit. Each winning image will be printed on the new HP Designjet Z3200 Photo Printer. The deadline to enter the contest is Friday, October 31, 2008.
