"In television, we're required to create incredible and often massive effects shots, all with a very short timeframe, a small crew and an equally small budget. LightWave is the only program that allows me to work with breadth and speed while still giving me quality results," said Gary Hutzel, visual effects supervisor and Emmy Award winner, Battlestar VFX. "With its broad range of built-in features and artist-friendly workflow, LightWave enables me to move quickly, render fast and create award-winning effects shots from start to finish, before the hammer falls."

In the Emmy-winning episode, special visual effects ranged from Starbuck's pristine and completely CG Viper to vast and dramatic space battles with cataclysmic ship explosions. The team also used particles to drive a swirling swarm of Cylon Raiders.
