Who is LukeA?
Luke Ahearn. I work at home with my three dogs and when not doing 3d art for the Renderosity MP I am starting or finishing a book and/or doing a freelance art gig.
How long have you have you been involved in digital art?
Technically 16 years but I find most of what I use I learned from the pursuit of art from early on in my life.
What are you currently working on?
I am usually focused on one big project and make time to plan future ones or tweak past projects. Currently I am working on a highly detailed set that should be out pretty soon. It has an Arabian Nights theme to it.
What software do you use and why?
I use basic 3D and 2D software because that's all I need. Most of what needs to be done can be done with an old version of Photoshop and a free 3d application.
Where do you find inspiration for your products?
Everywhere! The first time I played Dungeons and Dragons, the latest movie I have seen, even a dirty bathroom! I am often inspired by other vendors and their products.
Do you have any advice for aspiring Digital Content Developers?
Be patient and keep plugging away until you have a breakthrough - you will. It will get easier for you. I have a whole lot of experience learning 2d and 3d software, documenting it, and writing books about it and even I had trouble getting a handle on the alien (to me) workflow of Poser and this community. So you are in good company if you feel like a complete moron trying to understand the runtime folder and what all those wacky files do.
How has this online Community (Renderosity) enhanced your work, relationships, and learning?
This community is a pure delight. You can throw questions out there and get answers, you can answer questions for people - there is a great sense of common good here. I love the fact that there are so many aspects to creating art for Poser that there is always something you can do as a vendor from writing utilities and scripts to creating characters and clothing. You can create texture add-ons for existing products, light sets, material libraries, poses, - the list is very long.
Do you have any final words?
Thanks to all of the customers! Thanks to everyone that has helped me and there are a lot - too many to try and list. And thanks to the Renderosity staff for being the best!
